DIMAPUR — In an apparent case of domestic violence, one person identified as Sepratso Venyo of Thüvopisümi village was arrested allegedly for murder of his wife, Rüchüvolü, mother of four children, on the intervening night of May 31 and June 1.
According to sources, the victim died due to impact hit by a blunt object on her head. They are residents of 4th Mile area near the Central Jail in Chümoukedima district. The accused has been arrested on June 1.
Meanwhile, the Western Thipuzumi Welfare Union and Western Thüvopisümi Welfare Union (WTWU) have strongly condemned the cold murder of Rüchüvolü.
The Western Thipuzumi Welfare Union stated that the heart-wrenchingly barbaric and inhuman act has shaken them to the core and left in a profound state of shock.
“The sheer brutality of this incident is a grim reminder of the evil that still lurks within our society, casting a shadow of fear and uncertainty over our collective well-being. This heinous act of fatal, domestic violence raises grave concerns about the safety and well-being of individuals within our community. It is a chilling reminder of the urgent need to address issues of domestic violence and ensure that such tragic occurrences are prevented at all costs,” the union said.
The union has urged the law enforcing agencies to conduct thorough investigation in to the matter and leave no stone unturned to punish the culprit as per the law and deliver justice at the earliest.
In another statement, the Western Thüvopisümi Welfare Union (WTWU) has strongly condemned the depraved action of Sepratso Venyo. Stating that the heartless and heinous crime against the women was intolerable, it demanded that no amount of leniency should be shown to the ruthless killer.
The two organisations have appealed to the law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the crime and immediately booked the culprit under appropriate section of law and give exemplary punishment of the highest order.
It further conveyed condolence to the bereaved members.
