Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): Dimapur police have arrested one person identified as Aghato Awomi (29) for indulging in extortion on June 5.
Police report from the additional commissioner of police and PRO stated that hard cash amounting to INR 37,400 and some pieces of papers in which name of shops and the amounts paid by the shopkeepers were recorded was recovered from his possession. It stated that a case has been registered at Sub-Urban Police Station for further investigation.
On the same day, Dimapur police team from sub-urban police station along with the district anti-tobacco squad conducted raid within its jurisdiction against sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products in close proximity to educational institutions.
The team recovered different items of tobacco products during the raid.
Meanwhile, personnel from sub-urban police station an unidentified body of a non-Naga aged around 50 years from Rail bazaar area, Dimapur. He was suspected to have died of illness. After conducting all necessary formalities in the presence of witnesses, the body was shifted to Dimapur District Hospital morgue for conduct of post mortem examination and further identification.
It was ascertained that the deceased was a beggar who had been begging for the last many years in Marwaripatti/ Railway bazaar area, Dimapur.
