ONDC awareness programme held in Kohima

DIMAPUR — An awareness and sensitisation programme on open network for digital commerce (ONDC) was held at the directorate of Industries and Commerce in Kohima on Tuesday.

Speaking at the programme, the commissioner and secretary of Industries and Commerce, Kekhrievor Kevichusa, informed that ONDC is an initiative of the government of India with an aim to promote open networks for all aspects of exchange goods and services over digital network to enable local retail ecosystems to access and fulfill online demands and enhancing business efficiencies by reducing various cost overheads such as acquisition cost, digital presence costs and inventory costs across all businesses.

Kevichusa stated that ONDC was expected to make e-commerce more inclusive and accessible for both buyers and sellers, which would help in economic development and livelihood creating opportunities across digital commerce value chain including logistics, packaging, last-mile delivery and other areas, stated a DIPR report.

Mentioning that ONDC encourages local growth and help the local entrepreneurs in reaching out to local markets, he encouraged participation in e-commerce giving coverage to all businesses irrespective of size, location, digital quotient and other areas.

The senior vice president of institutional and government banking at Yes Bank Limited, Ravi Roy, appreciated the effort for organising the first of its kind in Nagaland and termed the event as historic moment for ONDC and the department of Industries and Commerce.

Ravi mentioned that open network for digital commerce was to democratise the market since e-commerce is the future. He added that open network for digital commerce has become a reality and going forward in changing life.

Stating that Nagaland has lots to provide, Ravi opined that it is the right time to jump into e-commerce which would enable local entrepreneurs in reaching out locally made goods in the market. He added that ONDC also provides gift cards, which could be utilised to purchase all e-commerce platforms and also do business through it.

The programme witnessed a technical sessions led by Pooja Bajaj Bagaria, ONDC team from DPIIT; Yaikhomba, founder of Addble Solutions Private Limited; and Daniel Domeh, system manager of Post office, Kohima.
