Onam Invitational Badminton Tournament held in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — Onam Invitational Badminton Tournament 2024, organised by the Morning Shuttlers Club, Dimapur, was held at Dimapur District Stadium Complex on Saturday.

It was informed that 57 teams from three clubs – Morning Shuttlers Club, Progressive Shuttlers Club and Shuttlers United – took part in the tournament.

The categories were men’s open 75+, 85+, 95+, and 105+. The winners of each category received INR 8,000, while the runners-up received INR 5,000, along with medals.

Sharing the significance of the Onam festival, president of Kerala Samajam Dimapur, Josh VA, said that Onam is usually celebrated at the end of August or the first week of September each year, according to the Malayalam calendar.

He also said that the Onam festival does not have any “religious dimension”.
