On Seva Pakhwada in Nagaland

The BJP’s initiative of observing Seva Pakhwada (service fortnight) from the electioneering politics (opponents) point of view may be disturbing but from a common public view and specially from a poor man’s view, it is a service of the highest order. Out of many services, the medical camp and mass blood donation stands out as shining example of what service to humanity is. Think of the people who will be benefitted by the medical camps and blood donation in government hospitals. Obviously the poor and downtrodden. Instead of patients coming to hospital, it is the hospital being taken to the neighborhood and doorsteps of the poor. The rich and well to do patients will go to the best private hospitals, go outside of our State but the poor patients mostly go to the government hospital. Stressing on the blood donation, the poor patients who come from remote areas and in need of blood really struggle to get help due to poor networking and acquaintances. Therefore, this Seva Pakhwada should not be misconstrued or discouraged by anybody. Viewing all and everything from political point and denying the much needed services to the poor and needy will be a soft crime against humanity. Instead, every political party should compete positively and join the bandwagon or organise separately under different name and date. The seva should be pro-poor, that’s all. If the Health & Family Welfare Department extends assistance during medical camps organised by one political party and refuses the same to another political, then everyone has the right to blame the department. Unless otherwise, let’s all support the Seva Pakhwada and the Medical department towards unified service to the poor, sick and needy.
