Being human a shortfall happens at some point of time in practical affairs but the error in small thing out of imprudence or trait of neglecting responsibility is intolerable. As a concerned citizen having seen the result of NSEE-II declared recently has detected some anomalies in the selection process of NSEE-II. The department would need to expiate as early as possible so that the aspiring candidates would not be affected. There are many experts personnel in technical department and yet wrong is done on simple categorization of BT quota while selecting candidates to undergo medical study.
The foremost error is non-fulfilling of reservation or omission of some reserved quota. If the actual number of seats for MBBS for Nagaland is 45, and BT reservation is 15% percent, the intact figure of reserved for backward tribes comes 7 nos. Candidates in the list serially up to 38 as given in the result irrespective of the tribes s/he belong, and as per the marks obtained in the Nagaland State Entrance Examination (NSEE) are based on merit and the remaining 7 seats (from 39-45) are exclusively for backward tribes and be given accordingly belonging to BT following the first 38 unreserved list. Likewise, in the BDS course the same methodology shall apply.
Moreover, if there is no system of specific cut of mark in the rule of MCI guidelines to qualify for MBBS and BDS as accused by the concerned department, in this case, grace mark may add up to those in the waiting list or cutting line be down to till all seats are filled. Nevertheless, if the government is sincere to follow the guideline of Medical Council of India, it should be strictly implemented, immediately cancelling the exam conducted by the state and allow CBSE conduct the exam afresh based on MCI rules as stated by the Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) so that the controversial issue created by the department may out through an exit.
