The Nagas having many different dialects cannot communicate with one another without a medium of another language and the Nagamese is the only language which is used as means of conversation in markets and in any social gathering . In metropolitan towns where people of different tribes live together , there is need to have Nagamese speaking congregation . Though it has no grammar and its vocabulary cannot be used systematically , Nagamese is needed to be used in preaching , prayer and conversation . So need arises to have Bible and song book in Nagamese , but there was nobody to take initiative .
A Theologian ( M . Lit. ) Dr . Sam Kumar Upadhaya by name : a Bengalee was the man sent by God to be used for this purpose . His ministry was spontaneous . He has not been entrusted , commissioned and supported by any organization to undertake the translation . It was really an odd task to do but he alone carried out the work till the dream was translated into reality . Now the whole Bible in Nagamses is made available to us . We really owe great indebtedness to him . May God bless him more abundantly.
