KOHIMA — Olivian Fest 2023 came to a close on Friday at Mount Olive College in Kohima, leaving behind a day filled with motivational insights and dynamic celebrations.

Speaking at the event, Moatemsu, an alumnus and youth director of 4th NAP ‘C’ Coy Baptist Fellowship, emphasised that when students embark on the pursuit of their dreams, life awakens and everything takes on profound meaning. Describing the distance between dreams and reality as ‘action,’ he encouraged students to keep growing, face trials with resilience, and trust in God throughout their journey.

Citing an example from the sporting world, Moatemsu referred to Diego Maradona’s triumph in leading Argentina to victory in the 1986 World Cup final but was subsequently denied in the ensuing event for being tested positive for drugs. In this regard, Moatemsu urged participants to stay away from drugs to achieve success in life.

Drawing wisdom from the Bible, he highlighted the story of Joseph by emphasising the virtues of trust, obedience, hard work, and faithfulness in various pursuits such as sports, business, and singing. He encouraged aligning one’s thoughts, plans and ways with the will of God rather than relying solely on personal understanding.

The day’s event featured literary-cum-alumni meet including an extempore speech competition and a thought-provoking debate on the topic “Is artificial intelligence a threat to humanity?”

Guest artistes Nikato Tamang, a singer and songwriter, and Bokato Kiho, winner of Naga God’s Talent S-1, added a musical dimension to the event.

The day concluded with “Olivians Got Talent” showcasing performances from students.
