Officials review construction works in Kezo town

DIMAPUR — Officials of Youth Resources and Sports department along with members from Kezoma Urban Station Committee undertook a joint visit to review the ongoing construction of a prefab multipurpose hall in Kezo town.

The team led by the director of Youth Resources and Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose, was accompanied by the joint director, Teisobu Sekhose; DSO of Kohima, Zhopovi Zecho; executive engineer Swedi Kiso; junior engineer, and Denben Yanthan. The Kezoma Urban Station was represented by its chairman, Mhasivi Naki and accompanied by the vice chairman, Zadekhweto and chairman of Kezoma Village Council, Kikrosa Naki.

An update from the Kezoma Urban Station Committee, mentioned that the chief minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, had announced to sanction for a multipurpose hall which could be utilised for public gatherings and functions and at the same time use it as an indoor sports stadium. The announcement was made on October 28, 2022 during the inauguration of Kezoma Urban Station with a vision to uplift the newly formed Kezoma Urban Station, which comprised of four villages within its jurisdiction namely Kezoma, Kezo Basa, Kezo town and Sakhabama.

The Kezoma Urban Station has appreciated the chief minister for his visionary leadership and assured full support to ensure that the objective of the multipurpose hall is fulfilled. It also thanked the land donor namely Kikrosa Naki, chairman Kezoma village council, for donating his land for the construction of a multipurpose building.

Meanwhile, the department informed that such prefab multipurpose halls are being implemented all over the state owing to its low cost, high quality control and reduction in construction time.

It mentioned that the stadium can accommodate all disciplines of indoor sports for both training and tournament format besides having the flexibility of being used for public gatherings and functions.

It added that the state government has already inaugurated five stadiums till date adding that more stadiums are planned for inauguration this year.

Report further stated that the Kezoma Urban Station has requested the department to construct a retaining wall to which the department has agreed to the proposal.
