Officials in Longleng meet to discuss Swachhata work

Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Officials in Longleng district met to discuss the sanitation campaign Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) and work related to it, on September 21 in the conference hall of the district deputy commissioner’s office.
The meeting was organised by the Longleng Town Council, updates stated. The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued updates to the media informing about the meeting.

The deputy commissioner of Longleng, M Shayung Phom was stated to have appealed to the gathering to make Longleng a plastic-free district. He exhorted them to keep their respective jurisdiction, wards, office, schools, shops, residences etc clean, the IPR stated.

The administrator of Longleng Town Council, D Robin briefed the officials about the Swachhata Hi Seva awareness campaign in the country. He highlighted the activities and action plan to be conducted in the district from September 11 to October 1, the IPR informed.

“After a lengthy deliberation on the action plan of SHS, the house decided to entrust every ward, churches, government office, and educational institutions to setup plastic enclosures at their respective wards in strategic locations before the 1st October 2019. The district administration will verify and inspect the works. The best innovative performer will be awarded,” the IPR reported.

The officials also discussed issues regarding ‘the menace of stray dogs’ in the town.
“In this regard, ward unions were entrusted to ensure proper keeping by their owners and create awareness in their respective wards. The district administration will verify the same and after a period of one month necessary action will be initiated against the defaulters,” the IPR informed.
