Officials attend NCERT workshop in Port Blair

DIMAPUR — A team of seven officials from Samagra Shiksha, SCERT and NBSE representing Nagaland attended a two-day workshop on ‘Use of competency-based learning teaching practices in large scale assessment’ in Port Blair in, Andaman and Nicobar Island, on August 21 and 22, organised by the NCERT, New Delhi.

The workshop was organised to understand the exercise of State Education Assessment Survey (SEAS) holistic progress card for students, presentation of best practices by states and review of assessment tools for the conduct of SEAS to be conducted in all the states and union territories tentatively on November 3, 2023.

An update from the deputy mission director of Samagra Shiksha, Kelhikha Kenye, informed that the SEAS would be conducted for Grades 3, 5, 8 and 10 to assess the status of learning outcomes of students. He added that the survey would be conducted in the district and block levels for the sample schools including private and government schools. The SEAS would be conducted in line with the national achievement survey (NAS), he added.

The officials from Nagaland who attended the workshop included Achetla Ao, joint director of SCERT; Benjungdenla Jamir, reader at SCERT; Dr. Chumbeni Kikon, joint mission director of Samagra Shiksha; Kelhikha Kenye, deputy mission director of Samagra Shiksha; Paul, assistant programmer (MIS) of Samagra Shiksha; Iluheing Nsarangbe, joint secretary of NBSE; and Dziesevolie Tsurho, academic officer of NBSE.
