Dimapur, June 30 (EMN): office of Chief Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control Department (IFCD) bade adieu to its retiring chief engineer S Kughaho Sema on June 30. A press release received from the department on Saturday informed.
On the occasion, advisor for IFCD Namri Nchang in his brief speech said that there are many government officers who are not able to reach their retirement day due to ill health but it is a blessing for the outgoing officer to have come thus far. He encouraged all the staff and officers to follow the retiring officer’s footsteps.
There is a time for everything and so today the time has come for him to bid farewell but this retirement does not end the relationship with the department but he will always be remembered, the advisor said. Nchang encouraged the staff and officers to be dedicated and sincerely for the department and the people.
The advisor further wished him good health and luck for his next venture of post retirement.
The outgoing chief engineer in his farewell speech said reflecting back to the past is important, as it is the repercussion of the present situation. Acknowledging the pioneering chief engineers and seniors of the department, he said because of their hard work and dedication the department is enjoying the fruit today. He added that because of the hardwork and sincerity of the officers and staffs, the department could move forward and implement various projects successfully.
Sema said as government officials ‘we have the deciding factor in our hand whether to stir the society to a brighter future or into a calamity, he said.’ Officers have a great responsibility and can be an instrument to bring changes in the society, he addded.
He also called upon the officers and staffs to uplift and look into the welfare of the common people. Concluding his speech, the retiring officer congratulated the incoming Chief Engineer Tsuktinungsang and wished him successful tenure as the chief.

Additional Chief Engineer in his address said that the outgoing officer was a sincere and dedicated officer. He also expressed that his valuable services rendered towards the department will always be cherished and the good work and stewardship left behind will be inculcated by all the officers and staffs of the department.
The department of Soil and Water Conservation also organised a farewell programme for Joint Director Kevingutso Rutsa, at the Directorate’s conference hall. The outgoing officer was stated to have rendered 32 years of service to the department.
Additional Director and head of department, Viliehu Nguzhü congratulated Rutrsa for retiring in good health. He described him as a man of humour and authenticity. He also appreciated the out-going officer for his punctuality and dedication to the department and the farming community.
The retiring joint director thanked his colleagues and staffs for their support and prayers. In order to be a good government servant, one should follow three basic rules- regularity, sincerity and co-operation, he said. He also mentioned that good team work and co-ordination can bring the best of the solution.
