Officers’ Hill Colony Council celebrates silver jubilee

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Officers’ Hill (Thegabakha) Colony Council today celebrated 25 years of existence with Minister for Social Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs, Kiyanilie Peseyie as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Peseyie called upon the denizens of the colony to live up to the name of the colony ‘Officers’ Hill’ by maintaining cleanliness, peaceful atmosphere and setting examples for other colonies to follow suit.
He said that with people from different tribes and communities residing within the colony, it resembles a cosmopolitan city. Therefore, everyone should love and respect one another so that peace and tranquility prevails to foster in more developmental activities for the colony.
He also called upon the denizens to respect the colony leaders and their directives towards avoiding all forms of anti-social elements and also maintenance of cleanliness drive.He also expressed gratitude to the colony electorates for reposing their trust in him as the local MLA for the third consecutive time (12 years in progress). Maintaining that all forms of development cannot take place at once, he also asserted that the government has been keeping the colony on top priority list to carry on developmental works, including road, drainage, school etc. On the occasion, the Minister also released the History Book of the colony.
First chairman of the council, Vilie Shuya and present chairman also Kihoto Awomi delivered short speeches. Chaired by OHCC vice chairman Y. Yanthan, the programme commenced with Pastor of NCRC Ao, Kohima Toshi Imchen saying the invocation. Convener jubilee organising committee, Khrielakuo Sekhose delivered the welcome address while co-convener Vikehelie Victor tendered the vote of thanks. Special numbers were presented by Ao and Lotha community of the colony.
