A CONSCRIPTION of sort, to assemble and train children become ‘little heroes’, and help them wage a spiritual war against “modern day Goliaths” would commence in Dimapur at the Imliyanger Memorial Center on August 24 next. Already in an age where most parents are finding it increasingly harder and harder to connect and built rapport with their own children, the Kids Worship Center and the Little Vessel, a division of IMC, are seeking to touch this social wound and make heroes out of little kids.
The 5th Children Event, held under the theme “You can be a hero”, is a reminder to highly vulnerable kids that they too can grow up to be a hero and fight their own battles against any form of Goliath, according to Shuiching Konyak, a board member at the IMC.
Coordinator of IMC, Tasang Imchen told a press conference Tuesday afternoon that the two-day event would seek to drive home the message that “you can be a hero if you follow Jesus (Christ).”
Modern day Goliath(s), used as a metaphor to things that are considered evil here, could be in the form of peer pressure, drug abuse, school bullies and other social engagements, according to the organizers.
By and through various activities and training sessions that involve counseling, puppetry, jewelry making, craft, magic tricks, “photography and music & lyric”, the children would be taught the tricks of heroism and the art of slaying the Goliaths of the world.
Counselors/speakers for the event would be Alemla Apong, the director of Children Evangelism Foundation, Rev Bendang Longkumer, the secretary of Christian Education Evangelical Feloowship of India and Robert Longkumer, the director of Kids Worship Centre.
Resource persons include Chinwang Konyak for photography, the Sisterhood Network for craft making, Asangla Imchen for jewelry making and Tali Angh for Muisc and Lyric.
Famed Naga Rock group, Divine Connection and the talented bunch of theatre artistes from Dreamz Unlimited have been roped in as special attractions for the event.
