Observer stresses on linking electoral roll with Aadhaar card
DIMAPUR — In an effort to ensure transparency in the ongoing special summary revision of the electoral roll, the e-roll observer for Kiphire district and commissioner and secretary of Department of Under-Developed Area (DUDA), KS Anden Konyak, has stressed the necessity of linking every elector’s name with their Aadhaar card.
Konyak stated this during a meeting on special summary revision of electoral roll held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Kiphire town on Tuesday. A DIPR report stated that all the booth level officers (BLO), booth level agents (BLA), assistant registration officers (ARO) and assistant election officers (AEO) from 59 and 60 Assembly constituencies under the Kiphire district attended the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Konyak welcomed all the members and explained the purpose of the meeting. He encouraged active participation and invited suggestions and clarification of doubts from all the participants.
Stressing data accuracy, Konyak emphasised the necessity of linking every elector’s name with their Aadhaar card in order to maintain electoral integrity.
The report stated that a special emphasis was placed on prioritising differently-abled persons during the voting day. The participants were urged to ensure their enrollment and address any omissions promptly.
To maintain an updated electoral roll, Konyak has stressed the need to promptly delete the names of deceased persons. He also urged the line workers to extend their full support and cooperation to the district administration and Election department.
Chubamngla, EAC of Kiphire headquarters and the AEO in-charge, highlighted the comprehensive awareness programmes conducted for all BLO. She informed that a demonstration on electronic voting machines (EVM) would be held in Kiphire headquarters in January.
