Observer reviews electoral roll revision in Noklak, Tuensang

DIMAPUR — Secretary to the Government of Nagaland and electoral roll observer for Tuensang, Noklak and Shamator districts, Mohammed Ali Shihab A, visited Noklak district on November 22 to assess the progress of the ongoing special summary revision of the electoral roll in the district.

In the review meeting held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Noklak town, Shihab was joined by the electoral registration officer (ERO), assistant electoral registration officers (AERO), supervisors, staff of the district electoral office (DEO), booth level officers (BLO), representatives from various political parties and booth level agents (BLA).

After the review meeting, Shihab along with administrative officers visited the polling stations in Noklak village C and Noklak headquarters under the 56 Noklak Assembly Constituency and Tsuwao and Lengnyu under the 57 Thonoknyu Assembly Constituency.

A DIPR report stated that Shihab also visited Tuensang district on November 20 and 21.

On November 21, he held a meeting with key officials, representatives of political parties and stakeholders in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’ office on November 21. During the meeting, he briefed all political parties on the significance of various forms such as 6B, 6, 7, and 8 and emphasised the importance of linking Aadhar with the electors photo identity card (EPIC).

He reiterated the necessity for timely submission of claims and objections in accordance with the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India. He also urged the parties to ensure removal of deceased and relocated voters from the electoral roll.

Shihab further encouraged political parties to appoint booth level agents (BLA) at every polling station.

During the meeting, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, DC and DEO of Tuensang, called upon the participants to cooperate for the successful conduct of the special summary revision of electoral roll in 2024.

Report further stated that the electoral roll observer visited two polling stations from each constituency under Tuensang district.
