Dimapur, Dec 10: A sixteen days observance of “Activism against gender-based violence,” initiated by Women Helpline 181 Nagaland, to galvanize action to end violence against women, which commenced on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was concluded on December 10, the International Human Rights Day. Women Helpline 181 Nagaland observed the activism in two phases by organizing outreach and awareness activities cross the state Capital. The first phase was based on the mission of ‘Eliminating violence against women’ and the second phase focused on ‘Rights and entitlements for women’. Joining the United Nations’ campaign, “Orange the World,” Women Helpline 181, along with Sakhi-One Stop Centre Kohima team, organized a programme at High School Junction, Kohima on the last day of the campaign. Orange balloons, each inscribed with messages to combat and end violence against women, were released in the air signifying the long urged plea to let the women live a life free from violence.
