NZPO meet to curb drug menace

DIMAPUR — Perturbed by increasing incidents of illicit drug abuse and trafficking within Peren district, Nagaland Zeliang People Organisation (NZPO) called a general meeting on April 22 with of all the head of churches, colleges, schools and civil society organisations along with Excise department, civil administration and police.

An update from NZPO stated that members present at the meeting discussed on measures to control further spread of drug addiction among the youth. The members urged the education institutions and churches to take up the challenge and educate the youth on the side effect of drug addiction and also called upon the civil society and village councils to cooperate and help the government agencies to catch the traffickers.

It added that the special invitees namely Rev. Fr. Chacko, former director of Shalom Rehabilitation Centre along with Robin Ndang and Kikum from Operation Salvage Rehabilitation Centre, Heningkunglwa, spoke in the meeting.
