DIMAPUR — Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Dimapur unit, in collaboration with NSS unit of Immanuel College, organised a training on youth leadership and community development at the college’s conference hall on Saturday.
An update from NYKS stated that a total of 40 students have participated in the programme.
In the first session, Dr. Yan Murry, founder and CEO of Pinnacle Skills, was the speaker, wherein she spoke on the importance of youth leadership.
‘Leadership, as an entrepreneur as well as in different facets of our social institutions, should begin from family,” she said.
Komuni Kayina, soft skills instructor at Pinnacle Skills, was another resource person, who enlightened the students on the basic required skills to be an influential leader in every area.
Mary Kent, United Nations volunteer and former DYO, NYKS, Dimapur, spoke on community development through volunteerism by actively involving all the students through group activities.
In the group activities, students were divided into four groups namely Elite Team, The Glory, Team Focus, and Team Raphael.
According to the feedback of the students, they learned about unity and cooperation through understanding each other’s grievances and taking into consideration the opinions of others in reaching a decision. The students also learned about equity and compassion, especially with regard to the underprivileged, downtrodden, and the differently-abled people in society.
Report further stated that the last activity helped students learn about building society through unity, trust and cooperation.
