NWV, EYL register wins in Winter Cricket Challenge

Dimapur, Jan. 4 (EMN): New Wokha Village CC and Etsujhuka Youth League won their respective matches in the ongoing 25th edition of Winter Cricket Challenge played at Local Ground, Wokha on Monday.

In the first match of the day, New Wokha Village CC elected to bat first after winning the toss against WTBC Youth Fellowship and posed a target of 136 runs in 20 overs. The former won the match by 35 runs after the latter were bowled out in just 16.5 overs.

Phyobenthung Kithan, who scored 64 runs in 66 balls, was named the Man of the Match, according to an update received here on Monday.

In the second match of the day, Kohima Lotha Students’ Union chose to bat first after winning the toss against Etsujhuka Youth League (EYL) and made a decent total of 130 runs.

However, EYL displayed an amazing batting performance in their run chase with Nchumbemo Humtsoe scoring 48 runs in just 37 balls. It chased down the 131-run target and won the match by seven wickets in just 14.1 overs.

Humtsoe won the Man of the Match award in the second match for this impressive batting performance.

Tuesday’s matches

1st match: Mavericks ‘B’ vs Forest ‘V’

2nd match: Lancers CC vs VCC.
