NWA to hold open trials for national championship

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) will conduct an open trial selection for belt and mas wrestling on September 19 at Indira Gandhi Stadium Hall ‘B’, Kohima, from 8:30 am onwards. The selection is open to all non-NWA affiliated units and tribes.

Two wrestlers will be selected for each category, and the chosen wrestlers will represent the Nagaland state team at the 12th AITWPF National Traditional Wrestling and Pankration Championship 2024, scheduled to be held from October 3 to the 6th in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, according to an update.

For men, the age divisions are seniors (18 years and above) and juniors (below 18 years). In the seniors division, the disciplines are belt wrestling and mas wrestling, with weight divisions of 45 kg, 49 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, and 71 kg. In the Juniors division, the weight divisions are 80 kg, 90 kg, 100 kg, and +100 kg.

For women, the age divisions are also seniors (18 years and above) and juniors (below 18 years). In the seniors division, the disciplines are belt wrestling and mas wrestling, with weight divisions of 41 kg, 45 kg, 50 kg, 56 kg, and 63 kg. In the juniors division, the weight divisions are 70 kg and +70 kg.
