NWA invites applications for National Belt Wrestling Championship
Dimapur, Sep. 13 (EMN): Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has invited interested Naga indigenous wrestlers to avail the opportunity of representing the state at the forthcoming ‘National Belt Wrestling Championship, 2021’ scheduled to be held from Oct. 28 to the 31st in Goa.
An update from the association informed that the team trial selection will be conducted on Sep. 24 at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima from 10 am onwards.
It stated that the various weight categories of Belt Wrestling for men were — 50 kg, 57kg, 65kg, 74 kg, 86 kg and 86+kg while categories for women are — 48kg, 53 kg, 58kg, 63 kg, 69kg and 69+kg. For all the categories, the Best Wrestler will be selected for both men and women and under 86+ category, only two wrestlers will be selected to represent the team.
All the selected wrestlers are to attend the Coaching Camp from Oct. 18 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima with Covid-19 vaccination certificate and/or negative test result for Covid-19 (with a validity of at least three days period on the selection date) from the competent authority, it said.
In the event of their excellent performance at the National Championship, the wrestlers will avail the opportunity to represent Team India (Indian National Team) at the upcoming ‘World Wrestling Championship, 2021’. Hence, the winners must produce their respective Indian Passport. All interested wrestlers are therefore, requested to undergo proper practicing sessions and come for the selection, it added.
