Nvidia releases hotfix GPU driver for users experiencing game crashes

Dimapur, Jan. 21 (EMN): Nvidia has released a new hotfix GPU driver for users experiencing game crashes and stuttering while playing SteamVR games.

The new hotfix GPU driver is based on the version 461.09 driver and Nvidia released the hotfix after a lot of users complained about dropped frames while using SteamVR. The complaints started October of last year after Nvidia rolled out the 456.71 drivers.

Nvidia’s Manuel Guzman has said that Nvidia is working on a complete fix to remove stuttering in SteamVR, however, he didn’t mention when Nvidia will dropping the new drivers.

it may be mentioned that the new hotfix GPU driver does not appear on Nvidia‘s main driver download page and is not mentioned in GeForce Experience. However, the new hotfix GPU driver (version 461.33) can be downloaded by going to this page: GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 461.33 support page.

According to Nvidia, the hotfix addresses the following issues:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro may freeze when using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA) [3230997/200686504]
  • [461.09] NVIDIA Broadcast Camera filter may hang. [200691869] 
  • [Steam VR game]: Stuttering and lagging occur upon launching a game (Without using any Hardware monitoring tool). [3152190]
  • [Detroit: Become Human]: The game randomly crashes. [3203114]
  • [NVENC] Colours of webcam video image on receiving end of Zoom may appear incorrect [3205912]
  • [Assassin’s Creed Valhalla] Game may randomly crash after extended gameplay [200679654]
  • [X4: Foundations][Vulkan]: The game may crash on GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs. [3220107]
  • [X4: Foundations][Vulkan]: HUD in the game is broken. [3169099]
