Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) officially launched its 2
nd phase state-wide consumer awareness campaign on November 12.
NVCO media cell stated that consumers in the state are exploited in several areas such as temporary price-rise on essential as well as non-essential commodities. It questioned how safe are the foods available in the market, how fair are rice distribution to AAY and PHH beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act 2013, how good are the roads be state or national highways and bridges etc.
NVCO stated that every consumer be it student, literate or illiterate, male or female, young or old, rich or poor required to have knowledge of their rights in order to protect themselves from all exploitations.
NVCO has sought cooperation from the people/ institutions/ churches/ civil societies in the conduct of consumer awareness programmes and also appealed all the citizens of the state to come together for the promotion and protection of consumer rights especially in the fight against illegal collection of cash at the check-gates and on highways which ultimately leads to price rise in the market.
