Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): A three-day national e-seminar organised by the Chemistry department of Nagaland University on the theme ‘Chemistry in emerging trends of inter-disciplinary research (NeSCETIR – 2020) got underway on November through Google Meet.
The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. I Tovishe Phucho, assistant professor of Chemistry, while the welcome address was delivered by Prof. M Indira Devi, HoD of Chemistry. It was followed with a short speech from Prof. Sangyu Yaden, Dean, School of Sciences, Nagaland University.
An update from NU stated that its vice chancellor Prof. Pardeshi Lal has lauded the department for choosing relevant theme and also released a book. Prof. Lal stated that Chemistry provides a solid base for almost all disciplines dealing with life and life processes.
The keynote address titled “Exploring chemical space” was delivered by Dr. Garikapati Narahari Sastry, director of CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat.
The inaugural session came to a close with the words of appreciation from Dr. S Dushila Devi, assistant professor of Chemistry.
It stated that 32 abstracts were received for the e-seminar. It further added that there would be 7 invited talks and 24 oral presentations over the course of three-day seminar. The seminar is being supported by Nagaland University and DST, New Delhi.
