DIMAPUR — Nagaland University (NU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Guwahati to promote academic exchange and research collaborations, on May 27 at IIT Guwahati.

According to an update from PRO, NU, the MoU was signed by Prof. Jagadish K Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University and Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, in the presence of faculty and officers from both the organisations.

The MoU envisages administrative and faculty support, internship and short-term training programmes, and guidance in infrastructure development.

The MoU is noteworthy in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which places emphasis on fostering partnerships and improving the quality of higher education in India.

The MoU also signifies a step towards promoting academic exchange, research collaborations, and sharing of resources between the two institutions.

Through such partnerships, NEP 2020 aims to enhance academic quality, promote interdisciplinary research, and facilitate the holistic development of students, the update stated.

“In addition, initiatives like this MoU reflect the NEP’s vision of creating a robust and integrated educational ecosystem that encourages innovation, diversity, and excellence.

“Such collaborations between universities and premier institutes play a crucial role in realising the goals set forth by the NEP 2020 and advancing the educational landscape in India,” it added.
