NU hosts Yuva Manthan Model United Nations Programme

DIMAPUR — Nagaland University at Lumami headquarters in Zunheboto district organise the Yuva Manthan Model United Nations Programme on Tuesday on the theme “Lifestyle for environment.”
The event, organised under the auspices of Viksit Bharat@2047, Ministry of Education, Government of India, witnessed enthusiastic participation of students from Nagaland University representing various nations.
An update from the university stated that the vice chancellor, Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, attended the event as the chief guest and delivered the keynote address, wherein he emphasised the significance of youth engagement in environmental stewardship.
The event chaired by Dr. Suraj Beri from the Sociology department, the programme began with a welcome address delivered by Prof. Moamenla Amer, head of Political Science department, followed with opening remarks delivered by Prof. MK Sinha, dean of Social Sciences.
One of the highlights was the model parliament competition featuring student representatives from 24 countries. It stated that the jury, led by Prof. John H Sema, meticulously evaluated the participants’ performances and awarded the first prize to Liberia and the second prize to India.
Ashish Kumar, PRO in-charge of NU, extended gratitude to all the participants and stakeholders for their invaluable contributions to the programme’s success. He also announced the vice chancellor’s commendation to the organising committee on their dedication and hard work in orchestrating a memorable event.
It mentioned that the Yuva Manthan Model United Nations Programme serves as a platform for young minds to engage in diplomatic discourse, fostering a deeper understanding of global issues and inspiring action towards sustainable solutions.
