NU, CRPF organise ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign

DIMAPUR — As part of ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign, Nagaland University (NU), Lumami headquarters, organised the ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ programme on October 13.

The coordinator of the campaign and assistant professor of Forestry, Mayur Phukan, informed that faculty, non-teaching staff, research scholars and students have joined the programme. He stated that the Ministry of Education aims to convey the message that one should always respect the soil, freedom fighters and farmers through the programme.

The yatra started from the main gate of the University and culminated at the Department of Environmental Science. Before the commencement of the yatra, the vice-chancellor in charge, Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha, administered the oath of five promises to everyone.

Another programme, a block-level programme on ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign, was held in Jakhama on October 12.

A report from 78 Battalion CRPF stated that representatives from 12 neighbouring villages along with district administration, NYKS and personnel of 78 battalion of CRPF attended the programme.

Among others, the programme was attended by Vilopi Sakhrie, block development officer of Jakhama block; Rokovikho Chale, NYKS programme assistant; Vinod and K Zutso, assistant commandants of CRPF; and VDB secretaries and members from various villages.
