NU cancels semester examinations

Controller of Examinations of the Nagaland University (NU), Dr. Moangsangba has notified to all affiliated colleges under NU that the 2nd and the 4th semester examinations for the academic session 2020 would not be conducted due to the impending threat of Covid-19 pandemic.

The move was initiated as per the approval of the Academic Council and in reference to the UGC guidelines dated April 29, 2020, the Controller of Examinations, an update from the Nagaland University stated.

However, NU has issued modules for promoting the 2nd and 4th semester students to 3rd and 5th semester as approved by the Academic Council. For both 2nd and 4th semester students, there would be no examination in 2020. This provision for promotion is only for the current academic session (2020), the NU notification stated.

For 4th semester students: In line with the UGC guidelines regarding conduct of examinations, 50% weightage would be awarded on the basis of internal/continuous evaluation marks of 4th semester and 50% weightage would be awarded on the basis of previous semester’s (3rd semester) average marks. In case any student is having backlog in previous semester (3rd semester), the weightage of 50 % would be considered from the 1st semester average mark.

For 2nd semester students: 50% weightage would be based on the internal/ continuous evaluation marks of the 2nd semester and 50% weightage would be awarded on the basis of the previous semester (1st semester) average marks. In case a student has backlog in 1st semester, the weightage would be considered from the average of the subjects passed in the 1st semester.
