DIMAPUR — The Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town (NTUCT) has appreciated Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP), Rupin Sharma, and his entire team for taking all the initiatives in arresting the drug kingpin, Bahar Uddin, and his associates on March 23 in coordination with the Assam Police at Sonitpur, Assam.

An update from NTUCT stated that Bahar Uddin, who is also the president of New Market Jama Masjid, has brought shame and frustration to the Muslim community of Nagaland in particular and the whole Muslim community in general for selling ‘Sunflower’ and other drugs in Northeast.

The union stated that such an act should be condemned not only by the Muslim community but by the Nagas in general.

“A man of his caliber who has no heart but greed for money and lust for personal gain in smuggling and selling illicit drugs to the youth and teenagers should not be granted bail whatsoever,” the union demanded.

It stated that the accused person should be given stringent punishment for the untimely death and putting at risk on the life of so many youngsters by luring them to buy and consume the dreaded ‘Sunflower’ and other drugs.

NTUCT has urged the law enforcement agencies not to grant bail at any cost, while it also appealed to the judiciary not to entertain any person seeking bail for the accused person whose sole interest lies in wrecking the society. It added that his rightful place is behind bars.
