NTTU urges DC Peren to revoke notification

Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): Nagaland Timber Traders’ Union (NTTU) has appealed the Deputy Commissioner, Peren, to revoke the notification dated January 11, 2017, prohibiting vehicles carrying log and timber to pass through the District headquarters after April 30 without prior permission from the competent authority. A press release issued by NTTU president Kevise Sogotsu said the union, after receiving the said notification, submitted a representation to the Deputy Commissioner dated April 25, 2017, seeking revocation/ cancellation of the said notification. Stating that the notification will affect the business and directly hamper their livelihood, the union is contemplating to take necessary legal action as per the law of the land guaranteed under Article 14: Right to equality, Article 19 (1) (g): Freedom of profession, trade and business and Article 21: Right to life and livelihood which is enshrined under the Constitution of India. If further stated that if the said notification is not revoked as prayed for in its representation dated April 25, 2017, which was received by the Deputy Commissioner, Peren, on April 26, 2017, the Union will be compelled to seek redressal of their grievances from the appropriate court of law.
