Dimapur, Jan. 9 (EMN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has appealed to the “contending leadership” of the NSCN/GPRN (K) to forgive and reconcile with each other.
NTC in a press communiqué said it is distraught to learn of events within the NSCN/GPRN (K) since January 4, 2023 and the “contending leadership mêlée that is rolling for all and sundry to see” when in their pursuit for the Naga national goal.
“This is a situation none can meddle but all can only hope that Naga leaders will with conviction surmount sanctimonious and sententiousness rhetoric as we use the name of our Lord Jehovah,” the council stated.
It reminded that the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) insists for early solution to the Naga political issue based on the concluded talks with the Government of India on October 31, 2019, and before the general election 2023 in Nagaland.
The Naga populace is also eagerly awaiting the long cherished and assured political solution to take place soon enough, NTC stated.
NTC urged that all concerned have to put enormous effort to respect the hard-earned peaceful atmosphere for the benefit and growth of the future generation by not jeopardising what has been achieved thus far.
“If Naga leaders are unwilling to be reconciled to own brothers, God will not accept the offerings at the Naga Nation’s altar nor be reconciled with our people. This is the core point of our Lord’s Prayer and nothing can be more pertinent than this in our context,” NTC added.
NGBF flays humiliation meted out to its officials
The Nagaland Gaonbura (village chief) Federation (NGBF) has expressed dismay over the humiliation meted out to its officials on the night of January 4 in Thilixu village.
“On learning of the volatile situation evolving within NSCN (K) camp, the NGBF officials along with other leaders from various civil frontal organisations with an intention to diffuse tension reached the CFSB office around 10 pm. Whereas without showing any courtesy or effort to ascertain the purpose of our visit, the cadres present threatened the leaders by pointing the barrel of the guns at them,” alleged NGBF in a press release issued though its media cell.
NGBF also alleged that abusive and intimidating words were hurled upon the leaders and that they were forcibly evicted from the office premises at gunpoint.
“Such unruly and violent treatment meted out to the public leaders was unwanted and uncalled for,” NGBF said.
The federation condemned the conduct of the cadres who were deputed on January 4 night and stated “Those misguided who are responsible for such an act should be properly dealt with by the mandated organisation.”
The federation further called upon right-thinking citizens and civil organisations to discourage such “shameful act.”
Hoshepu organisations flay assault on Isak Sumi
Hoshepu Village Council (HVC) and the Hoshepu Village Students’ Union (HVSU) have vehemently condemned the alleged assault and torture meted out to ‘ato kilonser’ Isak Sumi and his family by some members of the NSCN/GPRN (K) on January 4.
The two organisations have demanded Col. Phuyeka Achumi and his accomplices to tender public apology to Isak Sumi and his family for orchestrating “a life attempt and assaulting the family.” It added that the citizens and leaders of Hoshepu village would not condone such actions against its bonafide member by any individual or group.
“These petty acts of violence and intimidation towards each other do not reflect the interest of the Naga society at this crucial juncture of Naga history. The citizens and organisations of the Hoshepu village appeal to the national workers to exude leadership and character in their service for the nation,” stated a joint statement issued by HVC chairman, Kiyeshe Zhimo, and the secretary, Zhekugha Zhimo, and HVSU president, Kumughoto Aye and general secretary, Inato Chishi.
The two organisations acknowledged the sacrifice and service of Isak Sumi and his family towards the Naga cause and affirmed support to Sumi and his family.
