Fuel Adulteration
Dimapur, October 7: Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC), in its executive meeting held at De-Oriental Hotel, Dimapur, on October 4, resolved to extend all possible cooperation and support to the Co-ordination Committee on Fuel Adulteration (CCoFA) in its demand for CBI inquiry into the scam saying it was justified as the scandal has immense ramifications against the public interest.
NTC, through its Media Cell, observed that the CBI enquiry becomes a necessity for an impartial enquiry into the scam and to bring the case to a logical conclusion on time in absence of any creditable investigating agency in the State to conduct impartial and independent investigation on such case of great public importance.
NTC lamented that the one and the only investigating bureau, the State Vigilance Commission, has been disrobed of all its powers by a Cabinet resolution since June 2016 thereby rendering the State government free to indulge in corruption of any magnitude without deterrence. “What alternative is left to public for redress of its grievances if not demand justice from CBI’s involvement?” NTC queried. NTC statement alleged that Nagaland is badly plagued by corruption at all levels and viewed that accountability and transparency in the State’s governance is a matter of the past. It pointed out that one of the most destructive businesses is the nefarious nexus between the people in power and the ruffians who have converted public distribution system to a mere money minting industry as detected and exposed by ACAUT. Instead of protecting the interests of the general public, NTC alleged that the State government has become the major partner in exploiting the gullible public by depriving it of its due share of benefits from Public Distribution System (PDS) and posing harm to public out of fuel adulteration.
Meanwhile, NTC appreciated the ACAUT for busting the illegal operations in the State through its consistent activism and vigilance over anti-people activities promoted by State government.
NTC, therefore, called upon all right thinking citizens to extend cooperation to CCoFA whenever it seeks public support for its movement against the racket under Public Distribution System and for restoration of the system in the interest of the common man.
