THE Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has expressed its displeasure on the callous attitude of the State government in randomly issuing indigenous inhabitant certificate contravening the legislated law of the State and allowing illegitimate candidates to avail job opportunities in the State departments. It cited the recent controversies on the genuineness of Sachui Kamei, son of Talung Kamei, a Rongmei candidate who claimed to be from Zeliang tribe. The NTC said Talung was issued an indigenous inhabitant certificate and Scheduled Tribe certificate by the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima during 2004 qualifying him to sit for job interview in the Social Welfare department and was later selected for the post of LDA-cum-computer assistant against the seat reserved for Zeliang tribe (BT).
The present action of State government in appointing a non-indigenous candidate to the post in the State department is an act of adding salt to injury when its citizens are crying against recognition of non-aboriginal tribes in the State of Nagaland, it rued.
The NTC was of the view that the candidate concerned did not comply with the government notification No. AR-8/8/76 dated Kohima, the 28th April, 1977. It has urged the government to heed the voice of the citizens and cancel all the fraudulent certificates issued by the district authorities and protect the right of its citizens.
The NTC also called for criminal proceedings against the then Deputy Commissioner Kohima for issuing fraudulent certificate.
Deliberating on the ongoing issues and some pertinent issues confronting the Naga society, the Executive Council of NTC at a meeting in Kohima today resolved the following:

While reiterating the stand of NTC and ENPO on Rongmei recognition issue, the NTC resolved to take the issue to the people through protest rallies in consultation with ENPO.
Committee on RTE
The house after intensive deliberation on RTE related issues have resolved to Constitute a Committee on Right to Education (RTE) to study the RTE impact and its implementation in Nagaland
Committee on Border Affairs
