Dimapur August 8 (EMN): The Nagaland Tribes Council, in what can be termed as directed at its detractors, strongly stated today that it knows where it stands on the Naga political issue and its continued support for inclusiveness in the final settlement.
"The NTC understands what political solution can bring sustainable peace and what can bring disaster to Naga society. In the interest of Naga Community, the NTC has been harping on inclusive political settlement. Yet, when we talk about solution, our division becomes the primary obstruction to such settlement," the press note stated.
The council also stated that the "magnanimity of 6 NNPGs" to come together and form a common working group has "mitigated gaps of divisions".
It has given a ray of hope that the Nagas, are not only "capable of dividing ourselves but we are squarely able to come into unity too".
It extended its gratefulness to the six armed political groups for reposing their faith in the "mediation so initiated" which had made it possible for the NTC to approach the "GOI to take the working group into its confidence so as to find amicable solution".
"The NTC expresses its delight that the representatives of GOI are working towards that end," it stated.
The NTC also congratulated the Nagaland GB Federation for boldly supporting inclusive solution and meeting the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
"The GBs are the traditional custodians of our culture, customs and way of life, and therefore they are the appropriate platform to spell out what will be best for the people of Nagaland," it stated.
The NTC also hoped that the GoI will take a "wise decision" in the greater interest of the Nagas in particular and of the Nation in general of the opinions by the council, the Nagaland GBs Federation, the various other civil bodies and Naga intellectuals.
