Dimapur, Sep. 26 (EMN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has expressed concern over the recent adverse incidents that took place in Dimapur.
The NTC said the daring assault of a Naga family in Chumukedima area by illegal immigrants recently is a matter of concern.
“Though it was just a stray incident, it speaks volumes of what is ready to happen to the sons of the soil anytime in Nagaland. The fragility of the local Nagas, the mercantile attitude of the concerned authorities on ground and the lack of political will of people in authority contribute to namesake governance. It is therefore not surprising for the intruders to take advantage of the vulnerable citizens and lackadaisical and inefficient government indulges in nefarious activities at their whims,” the NTC Media Cell stated.
The NTC also said booking the culprits alone is found wanted as that does not settle the issue of the huge presence of illegal and foreign nationals in the state.
The NTC urged the state government to have a comprehensive and strategic plan to resolve the issue of the menace of illegal infiltrators before it becomes too overwhelming to handle.
“Again, it is disheartening to observe that the assailants of Mr. L. Doulo, a Naga prominent entrepreneur in Dimapur are reportedly allowed to be at large without a single of them being booked. The lethargy of the district administration and police gives the impression that the state government is abetting much crime in Nagaland,” the press release stated.
In defence of the innocent and law abiding citizens, NTC said such crime mongers should never be spared by government. The delay in booking the culprits itself and not to speak of letting them off will definitely encourage the anti-people elements to take undue advantage of the gullible citizens, the council added.
Further, the NTC urged upon the concerned authority to arrest those criminals without further delay.
Ao Senden: While condemning the murderous assault meted out on a family on Sep. 21 at Chumukedima, the Ao Senden said such incident should be an eye opener for the Nagas to do away in sheltering and conniving with the illegal Immigrants today itself before the future of the Naga, “as a tribal community is held captive in our own land by the illegal immigrants.”
The Ao Senden appealed to the concerned authority to offer befitting punishment to the miscreants at the earliest. The union also prayed that the severe trauma faced by the family be overcome with the blessings of the Almighty God.
