Dimapur, Feb. 18: The Nagaland Tribes’ Action Committee of Kohima (NTAC) has written to the governor of Nagaland PB Acharya “not to entertain any alternate arrangements till the chief minister (TR Zeliang) steps down.” The NTAC issued a press release on Saturday informing to have convened a meeting on February 18 during which the organisation had taken the decision to take stated request to the governor. KT Vilie, convenor, appended the press release. The NTAC referred to a letter from the Chief Minister’s Office on February 16 to the committee by Chief Minister TR Zeliang seeking “two to three days” for him to resign “in order to ensure smooth transition of office and in the larger interest of the state.”“However, with the period of three days as sought by the chief minister slowly drawing to a close (effectively on 19th February 2017), the incumbent chief minister has failed to live up to his words and has declined to step down,” the NTAC stated. “...the NTAC had a threadbare discussion at its meeting held today the 18th February 2017 where the members present unanimously decided to ask your esteemed august office to take cognizance of the matter at hand and plead your authority not to entertain any alternate arrangements till the chief minister steps down.” The organisation has expressed hope that “your valued office would consider the above mentioned assertions” and would address the matter “positively and promptly before any other issue crops up in this connection.”
