Dimapur, June 24 (EMN): The Nerhema Students’ Union (NSU) has condemned the unprecedented raid conducted by the Assam Rifles at the residence of its community member Kezhali-o Rülho, a Class 1 contractor, at Lower Bayavii colony on the night of June 20.

“It appears that the Assam Rifles personnel conducted house raid without even obtaining prior sanction from the appropriate authority which is in total violation of all norms for the security forces to intrude into the private life,” read the statement from the Union.

It stated that the security personnel conducted the raid in Riilho’s absence, thus causing terror to the family members. Describing him as a “peace-loving and respectable citizen in the society and a professional businessman,” the union stated that “there is no reason whatsoever for the Assam Rifles to have any suspicion to conduct raid at his residence.”

Northern Angami Sports Association

The Northern Angami Sports Association (Nasa) GROUP-C has also condemned the act of Assam Rifles which caused fear to the wife and children of Kezhali-o Rülho by raiding his residence without any valid reason on June 20 night.

“We make this statement firm and clear that he is a social activist as well as Class-1 contractor, also holding the post in the capacity as Finance Secretary in NASA-C. It is highly questionable to the Assam Rifles the high-handedness toward a respectable person in the society, and if it so happen than where is the security of a common man?,” read the statement from the association.
