NST named for ‘road safety award’

The Nagaland State Transport (NST) has won the “road safety award 2018-2019” for “lowest rate of accident” in the category for “Hill.” The award is given by the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (Asrtu) at New Delhi.

According to a press release that was issued by the Asrtu, the award will be presented during the international conference and exhibition on public transport innovation or Icepti 2019 to be conducted from January 30 to the 31st at the Manekshaw Center in New Delhi.

Announcing the achievement on Twitter, Transport minister of Nagaland, P Paiwang Konyak dedicated the honour to his officers, drivers, mechanics and every other working staff of the transport agency for serving the people.

The executive director of the Asrtu, VV Ratnaparkhi, congratulated the NST team for their achievement and urged them to continue with the endeavour even in the future.

Talking to Eastern Mirror, the general manager of the NST, Elibemo Yanthan, said that the entire NST team was happy and honoured for being adjudged as winners of the road safety award.

Through the grace of God, and the tireless efforts and dedication of the team, no major accidents were recorded for the year 2018-2019 in Nagaland, Yanthan said.

However, Yanthan maintained that further information will be disclosed only after receiving the award on January 31 in New Delhi.
