Dimapur, May 7 (EMN): With an objective to identify local employment opportunities for youth trained under DDUGKY skill development programme, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) held a consultative meeting with the Business Association of Nagas (BAN) on May 6 at the De Oriental Grand Hotel in Kohima.
An update from BAN stated that the members deliberated on how to reduce migration of residents from rural to urban areas in search of jobs, possibility of convergence of public infrastructure for training rural youth, connecting returnees with prospective employers, and the need for youth to develop work place professionalism to meet expectations of employers.
The members also decided to develop an online portal with data of trained candidates which could be accessed by employers looking for trained manpower. In this regard, NSRLM, in collaboration with BAN would organise an employers meet to bring onboard Naga entrepreneurs on one platform.
Besides, the members have decided to constitute an employer’s award to recognise the best employers of DDUGKY trainees.
Report further stated that the joint secretary of Rural Development and mission director of NSRLM, Imtimenla, chaired the meeting which was attended by BAN president, L Mongkum Jamir, and his colleagues as well as officers from NSRLM.
