DIMAPUR — Sekruzu block of the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) under the department of Rural Development organised a sensitisation programme on the benefits of millets-cum-local food show (millet) in Thuvopisu village under Phek district on September 27.
An update from NSRLM stated that the event was organised as part of Poshan Maah 2023 campaign in convergence with Social Welfare department.
Speaking at the programme, the child development project officer of Chozuba, Vekhoto Tetseo, has encouraged consumption of nutritious foods to keep the immune system strong. He also shared the gospel from Matthew 25: 14-30 about the talent to the participants.
He informed forefathers cultivated millet in addition to rice for food in the olden days.
While sharing on the importance of millets, Shuduve Chuzho, area coordinator (livelihoods), encouraged the farmers to cultivate millet for daily diet.
Area coordinator (IBCB) and in-charge of Thuvopisu village, Mheche Kapfo, informed that the main objective of the sensitisation programme was to ensure community mobilisation and people’s participations in addressing malnutrition among young children and women.
The programme was chaired by area coordinator (SI&SD) thematic in-charge, Rukusa Lohe, while an invocation prayer was said by Sanuzolu Tetseo, deaconess of TBC, and folk song was presented by Ludove SHG.
It stated that around 60 participants including the SHG members, Anganwadi workers, department officials and community members attended the programme.
