NSLSA participates National Legal Services Day in Delhi

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) commemorated National Legal Services Day & Commendation Ceremony today at Dr. Kothari Auditorium, New Delhi.
The function was graced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as chief guest in the presence of D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister of Law & Justice, Justice T.S. Thakur, Judge Supreme Court of India & Executive Chairman, NALSA, Justice Anil R.Dave, Judge Supreme Court of Indian & Chairman, Supreme Court Legal Service Committee & Ms. Justice G.Rohini, Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.
Nungsangchiba Jamir, OSD, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority in a press note informed that Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) was represented by Justice N.Choudhury, Judge Gauhati High Court & Executive Chairman, NSLSA, and Nino Iralu, Member Secretary, NSLSA & Judge TDP- Vigilance and K.T.Koza, Additional Secretary to the Govt. of Nagaland, Deptt. of Law & Justice and representative of the Chief Secretary, Govt. of Nagaland.
The Zunheboto District Legal Service Authority (ZDLSA) was adjudged the best performing in the State of Nagaland for the period 2014-15. The chairperson ZDLSA, Khesheli Chishi, District & Session Judge, Zunheboto and the Secretary, ZDLSA, Atoka Achumi, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Zuheboto also represented the State of Nagaland at the event.
At the commendation ceremony on Legal Service Day, Ms. N.K.Keny, Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) attached to Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) was awarded with the double distinction of being the “National Best Para Legal Volunteer”, from amongst all the States & Union Territories of India and the “Zonal Best Para Legal Volunteers for North East Zone” in the Regional Category. The Award was handed out by the Prime Minister consisting of Commendation Certificates, Commendation Mementos and Gift Hampers.
The event was attended by the Executive Chairmen and Member Secretaries of the State Legal Services Authorities (SLSA) from all 29 States and all 7 Union Territories. The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Faridabad, Haryana was adjudged the Best Performing DLSA from amongst all the State & Union Territories.
In the Regional Category, Kamrup District Legal Services Authority of Assam State was adjudged the Best Performing DLSA in the North East Zone.
It may be noted that as per NALSA record, there are at present 18,200,63 numbers of Trained Para Legal Volunteers who are engaged in the various Legal Service, Clinics & Front Office established under the auspices of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the State Legal Services Authorities (SLSA). The National & Legal Service Authorities were envisaged and established under the provisions of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, with the Primary Mandate of spreading and disseminating Legal Awareness across the Country.
