NSFA wins 4 medals in North East strongman competition

Dimapur, July 21 (EMN): The Nagaland Strongman & Fitness Association (NSFA) team won four medals in the 1st North East Strongman Strongwoman Events & Competition 2019, which was held at the Polo ground in Shillong on July 20.

According to an update received here on Sunday, Vizobilie Punyü and Kevilelie Pienyü outclassed their opponents by winning gold in the below 80 kgs and 90 kgs category respectively.

Sedevizo Keretsü fought tooth and nail and secured silver in the below 100 kgs category while reigning Nagaland Strongest man Tsuknungaküm Jamir had a full day fight in the open class category and won bronze.

‘All the four competitors won a medal each and created history for NSFA and the Nagas as well’ claimed head coach and general secretary NSFA, Vechita Khesoh.

The first of its kind, 1st North East Strongman Strongwoman Events & Competition 2019 was organised by the Meghalaya Strongman & Amateur Power Sports Association (MSAPSA) at Polo ground, Shillong on July 20, under the aegis of Strongman Corporation of India (Arnold Series).

NSFA president, Keduovilie Zumu in a statement lauded the department of tourism for enabling the NSFA to conduct Hornbill International Strongman man and Fitness man competition event during the Hornbill festival for the last two consecutive years. The NSFA observed that by organising such event, the boys were excelling by winning medals even in the Northeast arena. On behalf of NSFA, Zumu further appealed the tourism department to give more importance to this events as the very event is all set to upgrade to national level this year, adding our NSFA boys will also partake in the event. The team will be provided training for the National Championship scheduled in the month of December this year at Uttarakhand.

According to official sources from the NSFA, under the patronage of CEO Strongman Corporation of India, a meeting comprising of all officials from participating states was held after the successful completion of the event wherein it was decided to set up an Adhoc body for North East Strongman & Woman with Balaphrang Kharsing of Meghalaya as president, Vechita Khesoh of Nagaland as general secretary. Lalhimpuia of Mizoram and Raju Roy of Assam were inducted as joint secretaries.

Meanwhile the NSFA has congratulated its General Secretary Vechita Khesoh for being inducted as the general secretary of the North East Strongman & Woman Adhoc body.

The NSFA team will reach Nagaland on July 23.
