NSF Trophy: Red Scars FC, Seithekema FC and New Market FC triumph
KOHIMA — Red Scars FC, Seithekema FC, and New Market FC won their respective matches on the seventh day of the ongoing 24th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy to progress to the next round.
The tournament, organised by the Angami Students’ Union, is underway at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima.
In the match between Red Scars FC and Tsiepfutsiepfhe Youth Organisation, Lalminlun Neihsial opened the scoring in the 17th minute for Red Scars FC, but Puzoto Vitsu equalised in the 21st minute. With neither team able to advance during the allotted time, the winner was decided by penalties, which favoured Red Scars FC.
Rokosato Vimero, the goalkeeper of Tsiepfutsiepfhe, was honoured with the player of the match award.
In the second match, Seithekema FC outplayed UEFC with a score of 2-1. Letgousei scored the first goal for UEFC in the 26th minute to take the lead, but it was short-lived as Chinakho equalised in the 30th minute and added another goal in the 59th minute to seal the win.
Chinakho was honoured with the player of the match award.
In the third match of the day, New-Market FC sent home the Amateur FC with a 3-0 scoreline.
For the well-decorated former champion of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy, New Market FC, Gideon Leo scored two goals in the 22nd and 34th minutes, while his teammate Atenjemba added another goal in the 57th minute to advance the team to the next round.
Atenjenba was adjudged as the player of the match.
