NSF Trophy: Red Scars FC, ACI secure quarter-final spots

KOHIMA — Red Scars FC and Asüfü Christian Institute (ACI) secured their spots in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 24th edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy on Wednesday.

The tournament, organised by the Angami Students’ Union, is being held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima.

In the first pre-quarterfinal match, Red Scars FC triumphed over Seithekiema FC with a 3-1 victory.

In a tightly contested first half, Red Scars FC took the lead when Asito Krose scored in the 18th minute, but Seithekiema FC quickly equalised through Baoringdao Bodo in the 26th minute.

Both teams continued to push for an advantage, keeping the game evenly balanced as they headed into the break.

In the second half, Hautinsen Kipgen broke the deadlock for Red Scars FC in the 52nd minute, and Gurmeet Singh sealed the win with a goal in the 84th minute, securing a comfortable victory as the final whistle blew, sending Red Scars FC into the quarter-finals.

During the match, Rakeveiche of Red Scars FC, along with Ahmmed Bolagun and Railubo of Seithekiema FC, were cautioned with yellow cards for foul play. Gurmeet Singh of Red Scars FC was named player of the match.

In the second match, Asüfü Christian Institute (ACI) from Manipur faced off against Pehlum Lamhil Lawn Academy. An early goal from Ngararsing Raikhan in the 9th minute was enough to secure a win for AFI, as Pehlum Lamhil Lawn Academy failed to find the equaliser.

Ngararsing Raikhan was awarded player of the match. With this win, AFI also advanced to the quarter-finals.

Mashungam of Asüfü Christian Institute and Thangthenmang, Ginminthang, and Lungougin of Pehlum Lamhil Lawn Academy were cautioned for foul play.
