NSF Trophy: Mele FC Noklak, Gaziphema FC Manipur advance to the pre-quarters

Kohima, Oct. 22 (EMN): Mele FC Noklak and Gaziphema FC Manipur advanced to the pre-quarter finals after winning their respective matches on Friday at the ongoing 21st NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy at Indhira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima.

The two winning teams will play against each other on Oct. 28.

Mele FC, Noklak secured its place in the pre-quarters after defeating Khuzama United 4-2 in the first match, wherein Zaiphu (16) of Mele FC, Noklak scored two goals in the 18th and 19th minute, taking the club ahead in the first half. To add to their advantage, Mele FC received an owned goal from the opponent in the second half, taking the score tally to three. Moreover, Tangsol’s goal at the 63rd minute sealed their victory.

In the second match, Gaziphema FC, Manipur comfortably scored five goals while its opponent Kitsubozou Youth Society failed to score any.

Chinakho initiated the win for Gaziphema FC, Manipur in the 15th and later in the 39th minutes, while the remaining three goals were scored by Leangao, Rowland and Th Khazhi in the 28th, 48th and 51th minutes of the match respectively giving them the advantage 5-0.
