NSF Trophy: F4C Academy, Sechü Zubza FC seal quarter-final berths
KOHIMA — F4C Academy and Sechü Zubza FC secured their spots in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 24th edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy on Thursday.
The tournament, organised by the Angami Students’ Union, is underway at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima.
In the first match of the day, which was also the third pre-quarterfinal, F4C Academy faced Delai FC in a closely contested game that ended in favour of F4C Academy via a tiebreaker.
Delai FC’s Thangboimqng opened the scoring in the 11th minute and added a second goal in the 21st minute. However, F4C Academy’s Thotong turned the momentum with goals in the 30th, 38th, and 41st minutes, while Gingunhao added another in the 52nd minute to extend their lead.
Despite the two-goal cushion, Delai FC fought back with goals from Haonunreng in the 86th minute and Mangminlun in the 90+3rd minute.
With the teams level at the final whistle, the match proceeded to a tiebreaker, where F4C Academy emerged victorious with a 5-3 scoreline.
Thotong of F4C Academy was named man of the match, while a caution was issued to Satlenchung of F4C Academy.
In the second match of the day, Sechü Zubza FC defeated Jakhama Youth Organisation with a commanding 6-1 scoreline.
Sechü Zubza FC took an early lead with goals from Donlad Dingdoh in the 23rd and 43rd minutes, Atlanson Kharmaw in the 36th and 54th minutes, and Pursunep in the 76th and 84th minutes.
Jakhama Youth Organisation’s lone goal came from Keduhoto Zao in the 82nd minute.
Atlanson Kharmaw of Sechü Zubza FC was awarded man of the match.
