NSF Trophy: Circle FC advance to semis; Sechü Zubza claim spot in final
KOHIMA — Circle FC Chedema won the last quarter-final match to secure a place in the second semi-final, while Sechü Zubza FC sealed their spot in the final of the ongoing 24th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy on Wednesday.
The tournament, organised by the Angami Students’ Union, is being held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
On Wednesday morning, Circle FC Chedema and Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) resumed the remaining time of their quarter-final match, which had been halted on October 1 evening due to a technical issue on the field.
Circle FC Chedema eventually claimed victory with a 2-0 scoreline, with goals from Daniel in the 43rd minute and Joseph in the 82nd minute.
Kekhrie Tsira of Circle FC Chedema was named player of the match.
Sechü Zubza FC win first semi-final
In the first semi-final, Sechü Zubza FC defeated Asüfü Christian Institute with a single goal scored by Rhitso Mero in the 17th minute. Mero was awarded player of the match for his outstanding performance.
The second semi-final will take place on October 3 at 2 pm between Asüfü Football Academy and Circle FC Chedema.
Asüfü Football Academy has had a strong showing throughout the tournament, starting with a 2-0 victory over Kohima Sports Club in the first round, followed by a 3-1 win against Kuki Students’ Organisation Nagaland in the second round. In the quarter-finals, AFA secured a dominant 6-0 victory against Orami FC and went on to defeat Michazou FC 7-0.
Circle FC Chedema, after receiving a bye in the first round, trounced Eagle FC 14-0 in their second-round match. In the pre-quarter-final, they continued their winning streak with a 2-0 victory over Khrietho FC Meriema, and in the quarter-final, they dispatched Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) 2-0.
