Dimapur: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Friday announced that it will boycott the personal interview of Combined Staff Recruitment Examination 2022 to be conducted by the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) if the demand for the viva-voce component in all categories is not reduced to 5% of the total marks as against the proposed 12.5 %.

The federation also said it will resort to other forms of democratic agitation until this genuine demand of the students and youth community is addressed by the authorities concerned.

The federation in a press communiqué stated that the decision to boycott the personal interview was taking forth the resolution adopted at the 4th presidential council meeting of the NSF.

NSF reminded that it had earlier on November 16, 2022, written to the state Chief Secretary demanding for reduction of the marks for viva-voce component in the NSSB from the proposed 12.5 % to 5% of the total marks, and that the same was reiterated through a reminder on March 8, 2023.

“The NSF is firm on our stand that the justification given by the board that the allocation of 12.5 % of the total marks cannot be rolled due to the provisions enshrined in the Nagaland Staff Selection Board regulation 2022 is misleading as plain reading of section 45(10) only deals with the maximum limit of marks that can be allocated to personal and that the regulation absolutely does not make any mention of the minimum threshold,” it stated.

Despite the “legitimate demand” in the interest of the students and youth community, the federation stated that the NSSB on April 12 announced the schedule for personal Interview of the candidates qualified for Combined Staff Recruitment Examination 2022.

The federation requested all the aspirants who have qualified for viva-voce to abstain from reporting for the same. Further, it also appealed to the general public, federating units and sub-ordinate bodies of NSF to extend their fullest co-operation in the event of the federation resorting to any form of democratic agitation.

“The Federation would like to put on record that the sincerity and integrity of the board members is in no way being questioned through this demand and that the demand is solely to uphold the interest of the aspirants seeking for a free & fair recruitment process,” it added.
