Kohima, Oct. 20 (EMN):
The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) is set to celebrate 75 years of existence on October 29 at Solidarity Park in Kohima on the theme ‘Call to oneness.’ The federation was formed on October 29, 1947.

“The motto is a serious call to the Naga people to come together and maintain their political status as Naga people,” said convenor of planning committee and former NSF president, K Temjen Jamir, while addressing media persons in Kohima on Thursday.

He informed that the theme was chosen as the NSF felt that the most urgent goal is oneness of the Nagas even after 75 years.

‘We are calling all the Nagas to go for self introspection once again and show solidarity, patriotic feelings where we can contribute something to bring about Naga unity as member of Naga family,’ he added.

‘Irrespective what we do and where we go, we have a common factor that is Naga. We should not allow any power, any interest to harm that factor which brings us together,’ Jamir affirmed.

He said it would not only be the celebration of Naga essence but a celebration of all the Naga people irrespective of geographical, topographical, political affiliations, tribes and clan.

The convenor was of the opinion that the celebration would be a socio political revival for the Nagas and that the time would make people to think for their future.

He called upon all Nagas to celebrate together and extended invitation to all Nagas to join physically or virtually.

NSF president, Kegwayhun Tep, informed that Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, would be the special guest of the occasion. He added that most of the student unions under NESO would be participating at the event.

Over 2000 delegates including from Myanmar are expected to take part in the celebration.
